ADMISSIONS

Dear International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Admissions Candidate,

We at Stamford High School embody the belief that all students deserve the opportunity to challenge themselves academically and personally by participating in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). We believe that all stakeholders should fully support students in their endeavors as they work to reach their greatest potential throughout their participation in the programme. Students who seek candidacy in the IBDP must however exhibit motivation to succeed in such a rigorous programme. They must also mutually agree upon this decision with their parent(s)/guardian(s).

In order to ensure that IBDP students will benefit from this programme, the IBDP Committee at SHS has developed an Admissions Policy which includes an application & interview process that must be completed in order to be accepted for Diploma Candidacy.

All current Stamford Public School Sophomores are eligible for admission to the IBDP. Out of attendance zone students will however be required to file a Request For Out of Attendance Zone (OOAZ) Application with the district to be accepted into the programme.

For more information please attend an Information Session in October and/or feel free to email with additional questions.

Respectfully,

Tiffany Flynn

IBDP Coordinator

SHADOW AN IBDP STUDENT

Curious about the IBDP, who we are and what we do? Stamford High invites students grades 8-10 in the Stamford Public School District to shadow an IBDP student. In order to participate, students and parents must complete a Shadow Request Form. Following completion, the IBDP Coordinator, Tiffany Flynn, will be in touch to schedule a date for shadowing that works best for all parties concerned. Have questions? Feel free to reach out at TFlynn@stamfordct.gov.

OUT OF ATTENDANCE ZONE (OOAZ)

Students residing in Stamford, but not districted for Stamford High School, are eligible during their Sophomore year to apply for admission into the full IB Diploma Programme junior year. These students may be eligible to attend Stamford High as freshman with a request for an out of attendance zone placement if they are not already involved in the MYP Programme. To request such placement, families must schedule a meeting with the Programme Coordinator, Tiffany Flynn, and sign a statement of commitment if desired. After meeting, families may be encouraged to complete an Out Of Attendance Zone Form (link found here). Once submitted, both the district and Stamford High School Principal must approve the request. Please note that permission to attend Stamford High with the intent of applying for the IB Diploma Programme is not a guarantee of full Diploma Candidacy. Please email TFlynn@stamfordct.gov for more details.
